Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information Best Irish Learning collects when you use BestIrishLearning.com, why, and what rights you have. We collect as little as we can.

In short

We don’t sell your data, we don’t use affiliate tracking, and we don’t run advertising. If you email us, we use what you send only to reply.

1

Who we are

Best Irish Learning is a non-profit that reviews resources for learning Irish. For this policy, the data controller is [LEGAL NAME OF THE ORGANISATION OR PERSON RESPONSIBLE], [POSTAL ADDRESS]. You can contact us about privacy at [PRIVACY CONTACT EMAIL].

2

What we collect

When you email us

Your email address, your name if you give it, and whatever you include in your message.

We use it only to reply, and to correct or update the site if you’ve reported an error.

When you visit the site

Our site is hosted on WordPress.com, which collects basic visit statistics, such as pages viewed, referring sites and approximate location, and may set cookies. [CONFIRM WHICH STATISTICS, ANALYTICS OR COOKIES ARE ENABLED ON THE SITE.]

What we don’t collect

We don’t ask you to create an account, we don’t run advertising, and our links to other sites are plain links with no affiliate tracking.

3

Why we use it, and our legal basis

  • Replying to you: our legitimate interest in answering messages and keeping our reviews accurate.
  • Site statistics: our legitimate interest in understanding which pages are useful. [IF ANY NON-ESSENTIAL COOKIES ARE USED, THE LEGAL BASIS IS YOUR CONSENT, AND A COOKIE BANNER IS NEEDED.]

4

Who we share it with

We don’t sell or rent your information. It is processed by our hosting provider, WordPress.com (Automattic), and by our email provider, [EMAIL PROVIDER], only to run the site and our inbox. Some of these providers may process data outside the European Economic Area, under safeguards such as the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses. [CONFIRM AGAINST EACH PROVIDER’S TERMS.]

5

How long we keep it

We keep emails for [RETENTION PERIOD, FOR EXAMPLE 2 YEARS] after our last contact, unless a correction needs a record for longer. Site statistics are kept by WordPress.com under its own retention policy.

6

Your rights

Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you
  • have it corrected if it’s wrong
  • have it deleted
  • restrict or object to how we use it
  • receive it in a portable format
  • withdraw consent at any time, where we rely on consent

To use any of these rights, email [PRIVACY CONTACT EMAIL]. You can also complain to Ireland’s Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.

7

Links to other sites

Our reviews link to the apps, books, courses and other resources we review. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which we don’t control.

8

Children

This site is written for adults, including parents and teachers. We don’t knowingly collect personal data from children. If you think a child has sent us their details, contact us and we’ll delete them.
